The South Carolina Firefighters’ State Association brings a great opportunity for firefighters who are either joining the fire service or improving their skillset, to avail themselves of an attractive scholarship worth $1000. The winning participants will be awarded the scholarship at the upcoming annual Fire Service Improvement Conference event that will be conducted in January. Since firefighting is a selfless service and firefighters have to undergo many tough and critical situations, this scholarship is being provided by this non-profit organization to encourage their services. The organization has begun to accept applications from 1st February, and the last date to submit your application is 31st October, there is no first come first serve the facility, so participants can submit their applications anytime before the deadline.
This scholarship is named after Chief Larry Williams, who has shown his love and dedication to the citizens of York County of South Carolina, Bethesda Fire Department, and South Carolina’s fire service for more than three decades. However, there are a few criteria that the participants must meet to grant this scholarship such as, they must be members of the SCFA, they are required to provide 2 “letters of support”, one from their Fire Chief, and the other one can be from any one of their choices. The applications must be submitted online which will be evaluated by the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Foundation, and the finalists will be reviewed by a member of the Williams family.
The South Carolina Firefighters’ State Association is a non-profit organization that provides excellent emergency services to the citizens of York County. Established in the year 1905 and headquartered in Columbia, the organization trains and educates youths for challenging firefighting services.
