The Bryce Thomson Scholarship is provided by National Ice Cream Retailers Association(NICRA) every year for its business member employees. This is a need basis scholarship and will be judged on three parameters- Need, Academic performance, and essay writing. To participate, the student must be a part-time or full-time employee at an organization member’s store. A total of $20,000 aid is announced this year will be divided in 13 bright students as follows- 1x$3500 grant | 1x$3,000 grant | 2x$2,000 grant | 1x$1,500 grant | 8x$1,000 grant.
To apply for this scholarship a candidate is required to have: Essay, a Recommendation letter from the employer, an Application Form, an Official Transcript, and an Application Fee. The top selected student will be granted a $3,500 scholarship that the winner can choose in which form he needs it, tuition fee, books, lab fee, or room and board. The selection committee will select the winner as per the following approximate percentages:Â need:- 45%, academic excellence:-30%, and student essay:- 25%. Winners will be announced at the NICRA Annual Forum.
The Bryce Thompson Scholarship was established by the Board of Directors of the National Ice Cream Retailers Association(NICRA) in 1995, in honor of Mr. Bryce Thomson who had been committed and contributed for 55 years to the growth of the Ice Cream Industry. Who is Eligible?
To participate, the candidate must be a part-time or full-time employee at the organization member’s store and should be graduating from high school in 2021, or be a freshman, or sophomore, or junior in college. The candidate must have strong records in academics and should be able to generate a recommendation letter from the employer. The employer needs to pay the application fee for the scholarship online.
How to Apply?
Any part-time or full-time employee of NICRA members can apply for the scholarship online via the organization’s website. Their employer needs to provide them with a recommendation letter for the application fee of $25. The candidate also need to be enrolled at any accredited public or non-profit independent university or college in the U.S.
Rules
Applicant should be a high school senior, or current college freshmen, sophomores, or juniors high school seniors, or current college freshmen, sophomores, or juniors with strong academic performance. Carry a copy of Student Aid Report(SAR), employed part-time or full-time at an active NICRA member. Must be enrolled at any accredited public or nonprofit independent college or university in U.S. Employer to submit the application fee of $25 and the recommendation letter.
Benefits
The top performer/selected candidate will be eligible to get a grant of $3,500. 12 other winners will also be granted $16,500 which is a huge amount and can cut down a lot of the financial burden of talented and bright students. Students also have a choice to accept the money in form of tuition fee, lab fee, book, or room and board.

Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship via the organization’s website with all the documents/details required. Applications are accepted between July 1st, 2021 to September 1st, 2021. Winners will be announced in November.
