Christ Church

Christ Church, one of the main colleges of Oxford University, is deeply committed to teaching and research. A large group of scholars teaches their students in tutorials, a method that encourages undergraduates to operate in small groups with experienced tutors. Christ Church’s topics span the entire spectrum, including arts, social sciences, and physical sciences. Like the other schools, Christ Church is an autonomous charity but still forms part of the university as a whole; college and university members comprise both undergraduates and graduates. For its association with two fictional characters, Christ Church is famous: Alice in Wonderland and Harry Potter. Yet there were many historically significant real-life alumni. Among them are the philosopher John Locke, William Penn, who founded Pennsylvania, and many others.
