The Bernie Smith Scholarship was founded in 2007 by the Armstrong-Indiana-Clarion Drug and Alcohol Commission, in honor of Indiana County Commissioner Bernie Smith, who passed away on September 2, 2006. The reward is presented annually to one student from Armstrong County, one student from Clarion County, and one student from Indiana County. The recipient shall be chosen from the high schools’ graduating class located in Armstrong, Clarion, and Indiana County.

- The fellow should be a high school student.
- The applicant must be involved in community services.
- Applicants must be a student from Armstrong County, a student from Clarion County, and a student from Indiana County.

All the students are requested to submit the complete typed application before the deadline without making any errors. Only the typed application will be considered; the handwritten applications will be directly rejected from the competition. Benefits
These scholarships will lessen the burden of expenses on the students. The amount should only be brought in use for paying the freight of the students’ expenses like tuition, fees, books, and other students’ requirements. These funds motivate students to achieve their goals overcoming all the obstacles. The application procedure for this scholarship is too easy. Three $1000 scholarships will be awarded to the students.
