Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society is giving away students an opportunity to earn funds for their college or university-related purposes with the help of the “Allegheny County Medical Society Medical Student Scholarship”. The program is open for the U.S. students enrolled full time in a fully accredited Pennsylvania medical school.
The purpose of establishing the award is to help passionate scholars defray the high cost of studies occurring nowadays, which also stops them from achieving success in their lives. The foundation will help recipients with adequate funds which can be utilized for further expenses such as tuition, fees, etc.
Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society was established in 1954 as a 501(c)(3) organization. It serves as the charitable affiliate of the Pennsylvania Medical Society with a focus to provide access to medical school education, peer monitoring for physicians who suffer from substance use disorders, mental health issues, and behavioral concerns.

Who May Be Eligible?
To eligible for the scholarship, the students must be reviewing the entire eligibility criteria:
- The applicant must be a United States citizen.
- Applicant must be a resident of Allegheny County in the state of Pennsylvania for at least 12 months before registering as a medical student (not including time spent attending an undergraduate/graduate school in Pennsylvania).
- Students must be enrolled full time in a fully accredited Pennsylvania medical school.
- Applicants must be enrolled in or entering his/her third or fourth year of medical school.
- The applicant cannot be a past recipient of the Allegheny County Medical Society Medical Student Scholarship
How to Apply
Eligible students who are interested in the program are asked to sign in to the scholarship portal or if you are a new user then register yourself to the entrance to set up a new profile. Applicants must also all required documents to get considered for the award.
Supporting Documents
- Two reference letters, from persons other than family members, documenting the applicant’s integrity, interpersonal skills, and potential as a future physician.
- Note: One reference letter must be from either a medical school professor or a physician.
- A letter, on school letterhead, from the applicant’s medical school verifying that he/she is enrolled full time as a third- or fourth-year medical student at that institution.
- An essay addressing the following: How do you hope to be involved in your community beyond the clinical care of patients? In what ways would you hope to demonstrate leadership as a physician in your community? (500 words or less)
Benefits
A $4,000 scholarship will be awarded to a qualified medical student by the Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society. The recipient of the award is advised to utilize the award amount for their high-cost educational expenses.
Application Deadline
The application deadline is September 30 of the current year for the scholarship program.
