ALA Scholarship Programs

The American Library Association is offering the ALA Scholarship Program for the students looking for support to pursue their dream master’s program. The students attending an ALA-accredited master’s program and are residents of the United States or Canada are encouraged to apply for the scholarship.

The American Library Association (ALA) is committed to promoting and advancing the librarian profession. To demonstrate this commitment, the ALA Scholarship Program is introduced. The scholarship aims to present financial benefits to the deserving students desiring to pursue educational excellence and help them obtain their dream career.

The American Library Association is a nonprofit organization based in the United States that promotes libraries and library education internationally. It was founded in 1876. The ALA advocates positions on United States political issues that it believes are related to libraries and librarianship. It is the oldest and largest library association in the world, with more than 57,000 members.

Who May be Eligible?

Applicants must adhere to the eligibility criteria to apply for the ALA Scholarship Program-

  • The applicant must be a US or Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • The applicant must attend an ALA-accredited master’s program.
  • The applicant must not have completed more than 12 semester hours or one-third of the required semester hours towards MLS/MLIS/MIS.

The ALA Scholarship Program has hosted the online application giving access to the students applying for the scholarship. The applicant must fill in the application adequately with all the essential details filled in. The supporting documents must be attached as well and should mailed to-

Benefits

The ALA Scholarship Program will grant worthy awards to the recipient. The ALA Scholarship Program includes-

  • David H. Clift – this general scholarship will award $3,000.
  • Christopher Hoy/ERT – this general scholarship will award $5,000.

The scholarship will help the student to achieve their dream career and overcome financial barriers.

Application Deadline

The application deadline for the ALA Scholarship Program is March 1, 2021. Submissions received past the deadline will not be recognized.
