AAUW is actively on the lookout for talented, motivated, and enthusiastic candidates for its Short-Term Research Publication Grants. Applications are open for tenure-track, part-time, and temporary faculty, as well as new and established researchers at universities.
These grants are intended to provide aid to scholars to prepare research manuscripts for publication. These will play a great role in helping individuals who want to obtain tenure and other promotions.
AAUW is also known as the American Association of University Women was officially established in 1881. It is currently headquartered in Washington, DC. It is a non-profit organization committed to promoting equal rights of women and girls through advocacy, education, and research. In its every effort, this organization strives to break educational and economic barriers so that all women have a fair chance. It fights to narrow the gender pay gap.
Who May Be Eligible?
To be eligible, applicants need to fulfil all the requirements:
- Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
- Grants are open to scholars who identify as women in all fields of study.
- Applicants must hold a Ph.D., Ed.D., D.B.A., M.F.A., J.D., M.D., D.M.D., D.V.M., D.S.W., or M.P.H. at the time of application.
- The grants are open for tenure-track, part-time, and temporary faculty, as well as new and established researchers at universities.
- American Fellowships are not open to previous recipients of any AAUW national fellowship or grant.
- Members of the AAUW Board of Directors, committees, panels, task forces, and staff, including current interns, are not eligible to apply for AAUW’s fellowships and grants. A person holding a current award is eligible for election or appointment to boards, committees, panels, and task forces.
- Tenured professors are not eligible.
- The publication must be original and cannot be co-authored.
- Applicants may not apply for another AAUW national fellowship or grant in the same year.
How to Apply
To start the application process, recipients will need to log in or create a new account through the organization’s online portal to access the application. All the candidates are advised to send their completed application with all the required material before the deadline.
Supporting Documents
All candidates are required to send the following documents with their application:
- Three recommendations that can be provided by the applicant’s advisers, colleagues, or others well acquainted with her, her project/work, and her teaching.
- Academics
- V./Resume
- Narratives
- Budget
- Candidate needs to upload Proof of degrees such as transcript(s) or original letter showing proof of a Ph.D., Ed.D., M.F.A., J.D., M.D., D.M.D., D.V.M., D.B.A., D.S.W., or M.P.H. degree.
- The recipient has to submit the form that indicates you have approval from the proposed institution and the authority with whom the work will be done to conduct the research and have an institutional affiliation, laboratory or office space, and library privileges during the award period. No substitutions for this form will be accepted.
Benefits
All the successful participants will get $6,000 as awards throughout the eight week grant period. This award will help students pay for the following expenses: American Short-Term Research Publication Grants funds will help students pay for the following expenses:
- Living expenses.
- Clerical and technical support.
- Research assistance related to verification (not basic research).
- Office supplies, postage, copying, and related expenses.
- Dependent child care.
- Journal fees.
