Youth in Foster Care Scholarships for Undergraduate Students

Albuquerque Community Foundation is offering the Youth in Foster Care Scholarship to the high-school senior graduates or the recent graduates, or those with GED certificate or an undergraduate in college. The applicant must have been in a New Mexico foster care center for at least one year. The candidates must be between 17 to 21 years of age at the time of initial application with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 in high school/ college. The last date to submit your application is June 3, 2021. Only those applications filled before the deadline will be valid.

The winning one or two candidates will be awarded a monetary sum of $1000 which can be used for the better education of the foster kids. Everyone deserves to follow their dreams. With this scholarship, the candidates will be able to pursue education in their college of dreams and achieve future goals. Children are future assets that need to be well taken care of. This scholarship will help them study well and bring a change in their community and society as a whole.

Albuquerque Community Foundation has been serving the community for over 40-years now. The community foundation is a publicly-supported philanthropic institution governed by a board of private citizens chosen to represent the public interest and for their knowledge of the community. The ACF administers a permanent community endowment comprised of many gifts, large and small, and uses the earnings from that endowment to make grants to other nonprofit organizations and educational institutions.

Who May Be Eligible?

To be eligible, the candidates must satisfy the following conditions:

  • A New Mexico resident for a minimum of one year.
  • In the New Mexico foster care system for a minimum of one year.
  • Between the ages of 17 & 21 at the time of initial application.
  • An undergraduate college student.
  • Have a minimum of 2.5 GPA in high school.
  • Have completed a GED Program.
  • Have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA in college.

How to Apply?

To apply, the candidates have to satisfy the eligibility criteria. Submit the completely filled application form by June 3, 2021, at 5 pm MST. Students may attend a non-profit or Public educational institute in New Mexico or out-of-state and go to school full time or part-time.

Benefits

The winning recipient will one or two candidates will be rewarded up to $1000 annually. The amount can be used to financially aid the education of the foster kids for a better future. With this scholarship, they will be able to pursue their studies at good universities and achieve their goals.
