YADDA Scholarships for High School Seniors & College Students

The Women’s Healing & Empowerment Network is providing a Scholarship program as Youth Against Dating and Domestic Abuse (YADDA) for those who are high school seniors or college students from age 17-30. The program welcomes those who are residents of Spokane Country and have a plan to enroll or be enrolled in a community college, four-year university, or vocational school; the applicant may be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student. The Scholarship program is created to develop programs that provide young people with resources and healthy community interaction so that they can be empowered. 

The applicants entering into this program will be selected for awards based on their application, their description of their goals after they have completed their education, their current involvement in community services, and other questions that are mentioned in the application. Based on this, two applicants will get selected for awards and will receive an award amount of $1,000 to each recipient. The amount will get utilized for the student’s educational purposes, such as in managing their education-related expenses so that they can seek education and achieve their goals.

The WHEN was founded on January 01, 2008, and is a non-profit organization fighting against the issues of domestic violence and sexual abuse in the faith community. Their mission is to provide healing and empowerment to individuals, families, homes, churches, schools, and other organizations through education, counseling, healing centers, resources, and other support services in the areas of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and related abuse.

Who Is Eligible?

Applicant must:

  • Plan to enroll or be enrolled in a community college, four-year university, or vocational school on either a part-time or full-time basis. 
  • Be a resident of Spokane County. 
  • Be a high school senior or college student from ages 17-30.

How to Apply?

All eligible applicants should download the application form and fill up all the details, such as Students must complete the application and submit an essay, art, story, poem, video, skit, song, etc. that answers the question included in the application, with this they must attach two letters of recommendation, one from a teacher/professor or mentor and the other from a community leader or religious leader. Benefits

The applicants entering into this program will get selected based on their application, their description of their goals after they have completed their education, their current involvement in community services, and other questions that are mentioned in the application. Based on this, two applicants will get selected for awards and will receive an award amount of $1,000 to each recipient. The amount will get utilized for the student’s educational purposes, such as in managing their education-related expenses including tuition fees, library fees, books, and other supplies. The program will motivate students to bring awareness about the physical violence and sexual abuse among people and take the necessary actions that need to be taken to stop this. Also, they will be able to seek the education of their choice and leave an impact on others by contributing to the community service activities.

Application Deadline

All applications are requested to complete the application process and submit their applications with the required stuff no later than April 01, 2022. Submissions after this date will get denied.
