Applications are being accepted for Y. C. Yang Civil Engineering Scholarship. This financial aid scheme was established in 2004 through the generous support of Y. C. Yang, Chairman of T. Y. Lin & Y.C. Yang International. The program is named after him and aimed at encouraging students to further their civil engineering education and showcase their potential in this growing area. This scholarship comes every year with the purpose of cultivating the next generation of leaders in civil engineering.
The Y. C. Yang Civil Engineering Scholarship is awarded annually to not more than two undergraduate civil engineering students, who can utilize the scholarship for their sophomore, junior or senior tuition expenses and fees. The critical requirement of this program is that at the time of application, the individual must be a student in an ABET-accredited program; be a student member of the society in good standing at the time of application and award. Applicants who express genuine interest in structural engineering will be given preference. Interested candidates can send their entry for this program by filling out an online application form provided on the American Society of Civil Engineers official page.

Who is Eligible?
Meeting the following requirements is necessary:
- At the time of application, the individual must be a student in an ABET-accredited program, a Student Member of the Society in good standing at the time of application and award, and expresses an interest in structural engineering.
- Scholarships may be awarded only to those students who will employ them to continue their formal undergraduate education at a recognized educational institution.
- Previous holders of the scholarship are eligible to apply in any succeeding competition for these awards provided the other requirements of eligibility are satisfied.

Candidates will have to send the following to the Honors and Awards Program office for receipt by February 10 of the year of award:
(1) Completed application form; (2) statement by the applicant addressing his/her interest in structural engineering; (3) detailed annual budget; (4) official transcript; (5)resume; and (6) minimum of two sealed recommendation letters, one of which must be from a faculty member.

Benefits
This scholarship will be presented to two deserving undergraduate students studying civil engineering. The received fund can be used to cover the tuition expenses by the winner. The amount of the scholarship will be determined annually by and subject to the approval of the Executive Committee of the ASCE Board of Direction based on income from the fund endowment.
