WSOS Baccalaureate Scholarships for Students in Washington

The Washington State Opportunity Scholarship has announced the Baccalaureate Scholarship for students with a high school diploma or GED from a Washington state institution. The applicants who are a high school senior or graduate, college freshman, or college sophomore in STEM or health care field with a minimum GPA of 2.7 (on a 4.0 scale) are encouraged to apply for this program. Students who need financial aid and have a low family background will be taken under consideration for this program.

The applicants will get eligible for awards based on their application where they will provide all the details and also on their essays where they will answer the questions such as what influenced their interest in that significant, what steps they taken to learn more, and others. The selected applicant will be awarded an amount worth $22,500, which will be used for their education-related purposes such as tuition fees, books, food, accommodation, transportation, and other related fees. Who is Eligible?

  • Be a high school senior or have earned their high school credential or a
  • College freshman or college sophomore, if the applicant has completed any college terms or college credits post-high-school, they must meet either the maximum term OR maximum credit requirements such as the applicant must have completed no more than six quarters or four semesters of college at the end of the current academic year, OR the applicant must have earned no more than 90 quarter or 60-semester credits at the end of the current academic year
  • Applicant must plan to pursue an eligible science, technology, engineering, math, or health care, major
  • Must plan to enroll at least half-time (six or more credits) at an eligible Washington State college or university for fall 2022
  • Earn a high school diploma or GED from a Washington state high school or institution by fall 2022
  • A Washington state resident
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 at the time of application or earn a passing GED score
  • I have not earned a bachelor’s degree
  • Have a total family income that does not exceed 125% of Washington state median family income

How to Apply?

The applicants who pass the eligibility criteria can proceed with the application process. Applicants should fill out the application form by entering all the details in the required fields with proper information. Before starting the applicants, applicants will be asked some questions to check their eligibility of them; after responding, they can start filling out their application form. With the application form, the applicants must submit an essay on what influenced their interest in that major, the steps they have taken to learn more, what career do they see themselves entering with this significant in 500 words and should also write an additional essay on what was the challenge, what did they do to overcome the challenge, and what did they learn about themselves as they faced the challenges (Students can refer the PDF provided here, to get more details about it), With this, applicants must attach an official or unofficial transcript including their name, their institution name the transcript is from, their most recent cumulative GPA, and their earned credits (for more details about the transcripts, applicants must click here.) and should attach a FAFSA or WASFA. If the unofficial transcript or GED scores to WSOS are not being uploaded to the official portal, then they must mail to the mailing address provided below.

The selected applicant has to accept the scholarship formerly, which will be notified through the provided email, and students will also be required to complete a short online orientation. After this, the applicant will get to join a cohort of like-minded Washington students working to change the face of the high-demand Stem and health care industries. The selected applicants will receive a scholarship amount of $22,500. The amount will be used for the student’s education-related and required expenses such as tuition fees, books, food, accommodation, transportation, etc. The program will motivate and encourage students to build their future in STEM or health care without having concern about the finances required to fulfill it. This will lead them to achieving their goals and getting success in the field they dreamed of.
