Teaching is one of the major professions in the world because it is responsible for defining one’s career and teaching them great morals. Teaching can be an incredibly tough job with conflicting influences, dynamic sources of innovation, and occasionally old orthodoxy that makes it all challenging. It may be emotionally exhausting and, at times, impossible. But, in the absence of that–even in an age where start-ups are praised, entertainment is continuously emphasized, and technology is kind–teaching remains the finest profession in the world. They modify general education courses and educate children with mild to moderate impairments in different disciplines such as reading, writing, and math.
They also educate kids with severe impairments on fundamental skills such as reading and communication strategies. Teachers not only instruct students intellectually but also nurture them and aid in their comprehensive growth.
The Indiana Commission for Higher Education has made a significant step forward for the teaching sector by founding the William A. Crawford Minority Teacher Scholarship to address the acute shortage of minorities in the teaching area. The commission provides scholarships to minority students identified as Black and Hispanic persons who want to teach in an approved Indiana school after graduating. Students must commit in writing to apply for teaching opportunities in Indiana and to teach in Indiana for at least three years if hired. A minority student who qualified for the scholarship initially must reapply for the scholarship each year and retain the GPA required for admittance to the institution’s school of education or at least a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent if the school does not necessitate a minimum GPA.
The Indiana Commission for Higher Education, established in 1971 by a General Assembly legislation and signed into law by then-Governor Edgar Whitcomb, is currently in its fifth decade of service to the state of Indiana. The Commission is a fourteen-member public body whose purpose is to: define the educational missions of public colleges and universities; plan and organize Indiana’s state-supported postsecondary education system, taking into consideration the objectives and interests of independent colleges and universities. Examine proposals for appropriations from governmental institutions for both operational and capital budgets, etc.
