What is the Big Idea Competition?

Do you have a keen interest in business? Are you passionate and some unique idea of business keeps on clicking in your mind? Then here is the exciting opportunity for you to express your ideas and get a chance to win a huge amount. No matter if you are a student if you have a creative idea and eye for business, then your thoughts should be considered. Any high school student currently enrolled in a public, private, or home school may submit a business idea entry. Ideas may also be submitted by a team of students (up to three students per team). Even if you have two different ideas, you can make two entries.

This competition aims to promote entrepreneurship, spur creative thinking, and encourage students. This competition motivates students to do better in their academics as well as it provides some considerable funding to the students. This program encourages deserving students to do better in the business and gives them a chance to express their thoughts and appreciates their uniqueness and creativity. The firm aims to create valuable entrepreneurs for the world who truly have a keen interest in business and have an excellent business mindset.

The Big idea competition was launched in 2007. It was created through the collaborative efforts of many organizations in South Dakota. This competition is about exposing youth to new ideas and innovation in the hopes that you will view entrepreneurship as an option for your future. Rather than leaving the region to look for a job, students can have the confidence to create their opportunities close to home and know that there is support for them to choose to do so. Homegrown businesses are key to the success of our rural communities.

Who May Be Eligible?

To apply for this inspiring opportunity, students should follow the below-given eligibility requirements:

  • Any high school student currently enrolled in a public, private, or home school can submit the entry.
  • Even a team of three students can participate.
  • All the entries should have different business ideas.
  • Students with unique business ideas are eligible.

How to Apply

If you have two different unique business ideas, you can make two entries too. The application process is quite different; students need to visit the official website and log in by clicking on student login. Each entry needs a new login, along with new credentials. Students can save their work by logging in each time. Applicants should make sure that their submission is only in PDF or JPG format. Once submitted, no changes can be done in the submission.  Make sure you submit your work before the deadline to be considered.

  • 1,075-word description of a business idea.
  • All the needed materials for the entry till the submission.

Benefits
