West Virginia University Dependent Education Undergraduate Scholarships

To assist more and more individuals from the West Virginia University family to understand the advantages of WVU training, the university is eager to announce the Dependent Education Scholarship, which started in the fall 2018 semester. The WVU is launching this scholarship to encourage students to know the benefits of the training they acquire at the university and provide them with various cash prizes to support their education journey. The following scholarship is open for dependent children of WVU, WVU Research Corporation, and University Innovation Corporation benefits-eligible employees enrolled as full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate students. Dependent children under age 26 and certified as dependent following health insurance plan guidelines are eligible to apply. If the dependent is not enrolled on the employee’s health insurance, they will be asked to submit documentation to verify eligibility during the application process.

In order to be considered to receive the scholarship, the candidate should meet all the requirements mentioned here. One most deserving undergraduate dependent child under the age of 26 may receive up to $1,650 every academic year ($825 every semester) for four years and with a maximum lifetime benefit of $6,600. The application form for the scholarship is not available publicly due to security reasons. Therefore, to participate, the participants will be asked first to authenticate their identity through their WVU login to access the application form for the subsequent scholarship. The deadline to apply for the following scholarship is November 1, 2021, for the spring semester of 2022.

Who is Eligible?

The eligibility requirements for the following scholarship contest is as follows:

  • The scholarship is open for dependent children of WVU, WVU Research Corporation, and University Innovation Corporation benefits-eligible employees who is enrolled as full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate students. 
  • Dependent children who are under age 26 and certified as dependent following health insurance plan guidelines are eligible to apply.  
  • If the dependent are not enrolled on the employee’s health insurance, they will be asked to submit documentation to verify eligibility during the application process.   
  • The student must have an overall or cumulative minimum GPA of 2.75. 
  • The student should be enrolled at WVU Morgantown, WVU Keyser, WVU Beckley, or WVU Online.
  • Graduating seniors requiring less than full-time but at least half-time status the semester before graduation is eligible.

Parent Employee Eligibility:

  • There is no employee length-of-service requirement.
  • The employee must be benefits-eligible
  • If an eligible student has two parents that work for the same employer that apply, only one application will be reviewed for eligibility. Students will not be awarded the scholarship twice in one academic year.

Benefits

The last date to apply for the following scholarship is November 1, 2021, for the spring semester of 2022. No applications submitted after this date will be considered.
