Water Conservation Design-a-Sign Contest for K-12 Students in Chino Hills

The Chino Hills California is conducting their annual Water Conservation Design-a-Sign Contest for students who are in Kindergarten through 12th grade who live or attend school in Chino Hills. The students who attend a school or live in Chino Hills may submit one entry per person. The theme for the year 2022 is “How we Save Water During a Drought” students need to design the posters of their original artwork, that too with hand-applied mediums such as pens, crayons, paint, pencils, etc. This contest will bring up the student’s creativity, thoughtfulness, and skills and put them into the artwork.

The contestants entering this contest will be selected for prizes based on their artwork. The best artwork creators from each category divided as Kindergarten, grade 1-3, grade 4-6, and grade 7-12 will be selected as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. And they will be awarded some exciting Prizes. This will help students in understanding what does the theme exactly wants to convey, and also they will be able to further the message through their artworks.

How to Apply?

Students who are eligible to apply for this Contest should download the entry form provided below and fill in the details such as participant’s name, grade, school name, teacher name, home address, telephone number, and Parent/Guardian Signature. With this, all applicants must create their own artworks and submit them to:

Students must check out the below rules for better understanding and eligible submission:

  • Theme: “How We Save Water During a Drought” must be written on each entry. Judges will be looking for the posters in each category that best express the theme.
  • Students who attend a school or live in Chino Hills may submit one entry per person. 
  • Poster size must be 12 inches wide by 18 inches high on a thin white poster board or paper.
  • Artwork must be 10 inches wide by 16 inches high.
  • Posters must have a one-inch border on all four sides.
  • Only posters drawn vertically will be accepted (horizontal posters cannot be made into a street sign).
  • Must use hand-applied mediums like pens, crayons, paint, pencils, etc.
  • Artwork must be original work by the student. No computer-generated, trademarked, or copyrighted material will be eligible
  • Posters that do not meet the above criteria will not be eligible.

Benefits

Students will get selected for awards based on their Artwork. The best artwork creators from each category divided as Kindergarten, grade 1-3, grade 4-6, and grade 7-12 will be selected as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. And they will be awarded some exciting Prizes. Through this Contest, students will get to understand the importance of Water Conservation, and they will also be able to make people understand through their Artwork. The Artwork may be meaningful, which provides justice to the theme, so that the students may be able to convey their messages and solutions relevant to the theme. Also, the prizes will motivate students to take part in the Contest and secure their positions. Moreover, the winning posters will be made into a street sign and will be displayed at the city hall round-a-bout before they are permanently installed throughout the city. Also, the winners from each grade will be recognized at a May City Council meeting, where they will receive their awards and prizes.

Students who are fascinated by this Contest to show their creativity and skills should submit their entries before the deadline of Mach 18, 2022. Delayed Submissions will not be considered as eligible for this Contest.
