To assist qualified students in need of financial aid to help them pursue post-secondary education and training toward a degree or career in social work, behavioral health, or related fields in health and human services, the Union of Pan Asian Communities (UPAC) has introduced the Beverley Yip Scholarships for the academic year 2022-2023.
This scholarship is open to applications from students currently residing in San Diego County and pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate study program for the academic year 2022-2023. The scholarship will be awarded based on financial need and can be applied toward tuition, enrolment fees, books, supplies, and equipment required of all students for courses of instruction. The scholarship award is valued at $2,500.
The Union of Pan Asian Communities (UPAC) is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides health and human services focused on improving the overall well-being of underserved diverse populations. UPAC recognizes and celebrates the diversity of its region and strives to strengthen these communities to achieve self-sufficiency. It assists in over 30 languages at 15 locations across the county. It engages in programs focusing on mental health counseling, community engagement and business development, addiction treatment & recovery, housing counseling, health promotion, and cultural competency education.

Who is Eligible?
- The applicants must have completed at least a secondary education by the academic year 2022-2023.
- The applicants must be a current residents of San Diego County
- The applicants must be pursuing a degree in social work, behavioral health, addiction treatments, and recovery or related fields in health and human services.
- The applicants must demonstrate financial need,
- The applicants must have demonstrated academic and leadership ability and/or community involvement.
How to Apply?
The students complete the scholarship application form and submit it along with supporting documents to the following address in order to apply for the scholarship: Union of Pan Asian Communities Attn: Brittany Bachmann 1031 25th Street San Diego, CA 92102. The applicants must prepare the following supporting documents to apply:
- An autobiographical statement
- Two letters of recommendations
- Most recent official transcripts and/or report cards
Benefits
The Union of Pan Asian Communities (UPAC) will award 2 students undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate study each, a scholarship of $2,500 towards their education costs incurred in the academic year 2022-2023 towards their respective study program undertaken.
Application Deadline
Completed Applications (along with all other required documents) must be submitted to UPAC no later than April 15, 2022. The applications are required to be sent by mail to the given address. Therefore, the students must ensure that the application and the documents reach UPAC by the application deadline for their application to be accepted and considered.
