Nowadays, having higher education can lead to many career opportunities in life. As the saying goes – the higher your degree is, the better opportunities you have. To remain stick around and get success in the job market, it is important to have at least a higher degree from the leading institution under the belt. But gaining higher education comes with lots of expenses from tuition, books, living etc. In most cases, the cost of higher education might go to thousands of dollars that might leave you with less or no money. To prevent you from this problem and help you in your learning journey, United Health Foundation, in collaboration with UNCF, has created a wonderful funding scheme called “United Health Foundation Diverse Scholars Initiative 2021”.
To be eligible to avail of the benefits of this program, you should be a student attending an accredited four-year college or university giving. Preference will be given to students enrolled at one of the 37 UNCF member institutions and those students planning to pursue a degree that will lead to a career in the primary care industry. United Health Foundation Diverse Scholars Initiative is a multiyear renewal funding program open for the academic year 2021-2022. You can participate in this program just by sending an application online with a one-page essay explaining your career aspirations, intended plans for graduate school following your undergraduate graduation, leadership experiences, and your most significant achievements.
United Health Foundation was established in 1999 to develop and support innovative programs and activities that support the health care system in work better. It ensures improved access to health care, better health outcomes and healthier communities through its work. On the other hand, UNCF is an American philanthropic organization that creates and supports funding programs for Black students and general scholarship funds for 37 private historically Black colleges and universities.

Who is Eligible?
If you meet all the given requirements, then you will be able to be a part of this program:
- Applicants must be enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year college or university (UNCF member institutions preferred);
- Candidates must have a minimum of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
- Aspirants must be classified as a sophomore, junior or senior for the 2021 Fall semester with the intention of pursuing a career as a clinical practitioner;
- Entrants must major in one of the following academic areas, behavioral health, biochemistry, biological sciences, biology, biomedical research, biotechnical health, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, public health or radiology.
How to Apply?
Interested candidates can send their application through the online portal of the UNCF where they will have to log in with their existed account or register to access the online application form.
Supporting Documents
Along with an online application, candidates will have to provide a one-page essay describing their career aspirations, intended plans for graduate school following their undergraduate graduation, leadership experiences, and their most significant achievements. Candidates must also invite one reference to submit a recommendation online.

Winners will be provided with educational fund to support their higher education. This financial support will help their learning journey keep going, and take their financial concerns away from them so that they can focus on their education and make the most of their college life.
