Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this prestigious fellowship, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled at Auburn University.
  • Availability to complete the fellowship term before graduation.
  • Not holding an undergraduate research fellowship from more than one Auburn University program concurrently.
  • Open to students from all majors and classifications (freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior).
  • Engineering students must submit a brief email of intent by December 16th.

Application Process

Applying for the URFP is a straightforward process. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  1. Download the Application Template: Access the application template in PDF or Word format.
  2. Complete the Application Template: Assemble all necessary information for both student and mentor sections.
  3. Visit the Online Portal: Access the URFP online portal to fill out the application. Note that you cannot save and return to the form later.
  4. Submit Application: Once the student submits their section, it automatically forwards to the mentor for completion.

For Engineering Students: Submit a brief email of intent to apply for the fellowship by December 16th to ferguje@auburn.edu, including student and mentor details and a tentative project title.

Fellowship Requirements

As a URFP fellow, there are specific expectations and activities you should be aware of:

  • Program expectations will be outlined by the college offering the fellowship.
  • Attend an orientation session to understand program requirements.
  • Present at the annual Student Research Symposium.
  • Submit a post-fellowship assessment and a Research Highlight or Article to Auburn University Journal of Undergraduate Scholarship (AUJUS).
  • Participate in informal gatherings and consider presenting at regional or national meetings.
