The Tricia LeVangie Green/Sustainable Design Scholarship was set up by the New England Chapter to respect the late Tricia LeVangie, a functioning and committed IFDA New England member. The grant is for an undergraduate understudy focusing on the advancing green/feasible field of study. A sustainable design is the improvement of inventive ways of making living spaces that are energy proficient and include green/sustainable materials, manufacturers, and items. The understudy applying for this grant must be wanting to become educated in green development. Who is Eligible?

The eligibility criteria for the following scholarship is as follows:

  • The scholarship is for an undergraduate student focusing on the evolving green/sustainable field of study.
  • All applicants must have completed four design courses in post-secondary education at the time of application and be majoring in Interior Design or a related field.
  • The recipient of this scholarship must be enrolled for the fall semester following the March 31st application deadline, to receive this scholarship.

How to Apply?

All eligible candidates can apply for this scholarship by submitting the complete application form attached with all the below-mentioned documents. In addition to that, the candidates will have to submit a 200-400 word essay explaining their long- and short-term goals, special interests, volunteer/community service, and what inspired them to pursue a professional career in this field.

Supporting Documents

Following are the documents that need to be attached with your application form:

  • An unofficial transcript from your college Registrar.
  • One Design Project Example, to include process details, descriptions, and both in-process and final drawings (to include plan, elevation, and/or 3-D drawings and renderings). Computer-generated and/or handwork may be included. (group projects will not be accepted).
  • Two additional individual images, without supporting documentation, computer-generated and/or hand drawings and/or renderings may be included.
  • Letter of Recommendation from an instructor/professor on official school stationery.


The one best candidate with the most impressive written essay and the application will be chosen and be granted the scholarship money worth $1,500.
