Ag Bell College Scholarship Awards

The Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (AG Bell) has several scholarships available for full-time students that deaf or hard of hearing and use Listening and Spoken Language, who are looking for a four-year undergraduate degree. This is purely merit-based and to be eligible the applicant must be able to communicate through spoken communication and hearing loss must have been diagnosed before the age of four. There are other qualifications required, including GPA scores and hearing loss characteristics.

American Foreign Service Association (AFSA) High School Essay Contest

The USA has many ways to improve and defend its foreign policy and their very strict national security interests all over the world. In countries where there’s violent conflict, it’s necessary to add peacebuilding tools to the national security portfolio. This scholarship contest is aimed at challenging studies to imagine that they’re part of a team from the Foreign Service that is working in one of four countries affected by a crisis of this nature and propose solutions. To be eligible you must be a US citizen and your parents can’t be employed by the Foreign Service.

American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest

The purpose of this contest is to develop a knowledge and appreciation for the US Constitution among high school students. This program began in 1938 and since its inception, is has given contestants an academic speaking challenge, aimed at teaching leadership qualities, the history of the country’s laws, oral fluency and clarity as well as a deep understanding of the responsibilities and duties one has as an American citizen.

Davidson Fellows Scholarship

This prestigious scholarship is awarded to those that have completed a significant piece of work within their categories, such as technology, science, mathematics, engineering, music, literature, philosophy and outside the box. Diverse Minds Writing Challenge

This initiative was created by B’nai B’rith International and it promotes tolerance while sending a message of equality among citizens, regardless of race, origin, religion, sexual orientation or gender. The aim is to get rid of prejudices and strengthen the future of our youth. Contestants must write and illustrate a children’s book where a story of tolerance, inclusion or diversity is told. This challenge encourages teens to create ways to teach tolerance to the younger children and give new insights to themselves.

Furman University Furman Scholars Program

The Furman Scholars program looks to reward high school juniors who show outstanding academic potential, leadership and are also involved in extracurricular activities as well as community service. These students are nominated by their high school guidance counselors. If students are accepted into Furman University, they are eligible to receive at least $7,500. The requirements for this scholarship are quite high, but it’s definitely worth the effort.

Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes

This award is given to those young leaders who have made a significant difference to people and our planet. Gracias Music Foundation Scholarship

The Gracias Music Foundation mission is to strengthen music education, by reaching out to local communities, performing concerts and master classes by distinguished musicians. By providing support to young musicians that can’t pursue their talents in music due to financial difficulties or their home or local circumstances. The James Alan Cox Foundation for Student Photojournalists

This program aims to support financially those young photographers in high school that need help in furthering their education.
