University of North Carolina–Chapel HillPharmacy Residency Program

The UNC Medical Center Pharmacy Residency Training Programs was founded in 1967 by Fred Eckel. Today, they offer a postgraduate year-1 (PGY1), several specialty practice postgraduate year-2 (PGY2), a combined two-year pharmacotherapy program and a combined two-year Health System Pharmacy Administration/MS residency programs. Residents also serve as educators, teaching in the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy’s Pharmaceutical Care Lab, teaching specialty-specific pharmacy courses, and mentoring students on rotations at UNC Medical Center. Ohio State University Pharmacy Residency Program

The Ohio State University Pharmacy Residency Program has a nearly 60-year tradition of training excellence and in preparing our graduates to work at a high level in a wide variety of health system and ambulatory patient care facilities. Postgraduate Year One pharmacy residency training is an organized, directed, accredited program that builds upon knowledge, skills, attitudes, and abilities gained from an accredited professional pharmacy degree program. The PGY2 portion of the residency builds upon competence in the delivery of patient-centered care and in pharmacy operational services to prepare graduates who can assume high level managerial, supervisory, and leadership responsibilities. Completion of an MS in Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency requires a 2-year commitment in which the successful candidate will complete a PGY1 residency, a PGY2 residency and earn a Masters Degree in Health-System Pharmacy.

University of Kentucky Pharmacy Residency Program

The University of Kentucky offers PGY2 specialty residencies in eleven clinical pharmacy specialties. The PGY1 program was the recipient of the 2007 ASHP Foundation Pharmacy Residency Excellence Award. Core learning experiences include ambulatory care, medical and surgical critical care, internal medicine, oncology, pediatrics and practice leadership.  Electives include emergency medicine, infectious diseases, nutrition, solid organ transplant, and many others. Residents participate in 24-hour clinical services through an in-house on-call program. The program encourages residents to pursue their personal interests while becoming well-rounded clinicians by providing them with the flexibility to directly design their residency year schedule.

Williamson Medical Center Pharmacy Residency Program

The Williamson Medical Center Department of Pharmacy Services’ mission is to provide services that contribute to optimal medication management for all patients served by the facility. Williamson Medical Center is a 185-bed community hospital that provides comprehensive medical and surgical services and progressive pharmacy services. The Williamson Medical Center PGY1 pharmacy residency is a 12-month program designed to produce well-rounded practitioners. The purpose of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP)-accredited PGY1 residency is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education. Residents will participate in didactic classroom activities and earn a teaching certificate from Belmont University College of Pharmacy. The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for all aspects of pharmacy operation, including the residency program.
