Hospital for Special Surgery/Cornell Medical Center

The Orthopaedic Residency Program offers residents the opportunity to gain a well-rounded surgical education and master the fundamentals of orthopedic surgery. This program offers a unique opportunity for the orthopedic resident to learn and develop his/her skills in a broad field of musculoskeletal research. Full-time research staff includes experts in anatomy, biomechanics, biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, pathology, veterinary surgery, and centimeter.

The orthopedic resident is required to participate in basic or clinical research and is expected to present a paper in the last year of his/her residency. Following their training, many residents continue their education by taking a fellowship position.

Mayo Clinic College of Medicine (Rochester)

The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic’s campus in Rochester, Minnesota, includes a group of more than 45 surgical, research and clinical consultants. The Orthopedic Surgery Residency began in 1910 at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. There are four specialty areas within the department: adult reconstruction, hand surgery, orthopedic oncology, and pediatric orthopedics.

The five-year Orthopedic Surgery Residency includes didactic and research training and extensive clinical experience. You gradually assume increasing responsibility for patient care and participate in trauma management throughout the entire residency. After completing the Orthopedic Surgery Residency, you will be able to evaluate and treat most orthopedic conditions.

UPMC Medical Education

At the University of Pittsburgh, the Residency Program in Orthopedic Surgery offers physicians the clinical and academic experience they will need to meet the challenges of 21st-century orthopedics. Through specialized clinical programs, the faculty of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine’s Department of Orthopedics Surgery provides the full range of established therapies to a diverse population of patients while concurrently developing new treatments modalities.

The core curriculum of the Residency Program in Orthopedic Surgery consists of a one-year categorical surgery internship and four years in orthopedic surgery. UPMC Hamot offers an ACGME-accredited orthopedic surgery residency program, which is five years in duration.

University of Washington

The University of Washington Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine is one of the leading academic orthopedic departments in the United States.
