Toni Morrison Essay Contest for Young People

The Community Foundation is conducting an Essay Contest in memory of Toni Morrison, who was a great writer; the contest welcomes students from kindergarten to college. The contest is based on two themes and has been divided into two groups of grades. Students from elementary, middle school, high school, and colleges who know Toni Morrison and have read her novels have to write the essay based on her characters, challenges, and the environment by applying it to themselves and sharing their experiences and thoughts about it.

Participants who will be a part of this contest has to give their best and win prizes offered by the organizers; awards will be given for each group category divided as an elementary school from grade kindergarten to 5th, middle school from 6th to 8th grade, high school from 9th to 12th grade, and college students. The prizes for each group category will be given as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, and the award will be $75, $50, and $25 gift card. This will help students to learn and gather knowledge and lessons from her personality and novels. Also, the gifts will cheer up students to bring out the best in themselves and write about it.

The Community Foundation of Lorain County was established in the year 1980 and is a public foundation. How to Apply?

The students who are interested and willing to take part in this contest should submit their entries and essay’s, the elementary school, which includes grades from kindergarten to 5th, should write an essay on how has their environment made them who they are, and other school categories including middle school, high school, and college should write on, reflect on how their physical and virtual environment has shaped their identity in 700words or less. The essays are written must be original and unpublished, as plagiarized essays will not be accepted. With this, a cover letter must be attached, including participants’ name, category, address, email (student or guardian), phone number, school name. The students should submit in their respective category, and entries must be mailed to:

The participants who will get selected on the basis of their essay its originality, clarity, and other judging points will be awarded as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, and the amount received will be $75, $50, and $25 gift card for each grade category group.
