If you are a graduating high school senior planning to get enrolled at Historically Black College or university, Here is an exceptional opportunity for these students! The Tom Joyner Foundation is pleasantly announcing the Tom Joyner Scholarship for the ten eligible candidates from a historically Black College or university with remarkable academic standing and desperately need financial assistance. They provide up to $25,000 for ten eligible students, where each student will be allotted $2,500 for five-semester.  

This scholarship aims to end hunger in the community through the medium of education. They believe that All students must be provided with an excellent chance to attend college to succeed in life. The vision of the Tom Joyner Foundation to provide programming that affords diverse academic opportunities to students wanting and/or attending HBCU’s regardless of social or economic status and means. Their mission is to assist with the programming initiatives and partnerships to support historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) and their communities. Their goal is to strengthen ties between HBCUs and the communities and provide HBCU students scholarships and access to special programs to complete their college degrees.

The Tom Joyner Foundation was established in 1998 as the brainchild of nationally syndicated radio personality Tom Joyner. Since then, the foundation has provided necessary support to every HBCU in its 20-year history to help sustain and preserve the legacies of these valuable institutions. With the help of fundraising and donor development initiatives, $65 million has been raised to help more than 29,000 students attending HBCUs. The foundation has suggested internships, offered matching grant support, and career development to deserving students.

Who May Be Eligible

Please go through the eligibility criteria for the scholarship:

  • The candidate must be having outstanding academic performance
  • The fellow must need financial assistance
  • The fellow must be planning to enroll at HBCU 
  • The candidate must be Graduating high school seniors
  • The candidate must be a US resident
  • The fellow should be enrolled in community service and extracurricular activity

How to Apply 

Submission should be made before the deadline via an online process. The fellow should provide the complete application along with the required documents. The candidate must provide valid information in the application, along with the requirements ad the invalid lead will not be considered.

Kindly ensure to submit before the deadline as the late submission will not be considered.

The applicant must submit the enlisted documents along with the application to maintain the eligibility criteria for the scholarship:

  • The candidate should provide the complete application
  • The student should provide proof of enrollment at HBCU 
  • The fellow should demonstrate the need for financial assistance
  • The student should provide the latest transcript
  • The student must enlist activities and community service involved in 


The provided scholarship should only be occupied to pay the educational expenses of the student. The scholarship should not be used for other expenses other than tuition fees, fees, and other related costs. These scholarships motivate the students to achieve their goals by overcoming difficulties. The application procedure for this scholarship is too simple. The program is pleased to announce a scholarship worth $25,000 for ten candidates.
