The Tom Joyner Foundation is pleasantly announcing the Tom Joyner Scholarship for the ten eligible candidates from a historically Black College or university with remarkable academic standing and desperately need financial assistance. They provide up to $25,000 for ten eligible students, where each student will be allotted $2,500 for five-semester.
This scholarship aims to end hunger in the community through the medium of education. They believe that All students must be provided with an excellent chance to attend college to succeed in life. The vision of the Tom Joyner Foundation to provide programming that affords diverse academic opportunities to students wanting and/or attending HBCU’s regardless of social or economic status and means. Their mission is to assist with the programming initiatives and partnerships to support historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) and their communities. Their goal is to strengthen ties between HBCUs and the communities and provide HBCU students scholarships and access to special programs to complete their college degrees.
The Tom Joyner Foundation was established in 1998 as the brainchild of nationally syndicated radio personality Tom Joyner. Since then, the foundation has provided necessary support to every HBCU in its 20-year history to help sustain and preserve the legacies of these valuable institutions. With the help of fundraising and donor development initiatives, $65 million has been raised to help more than 29,000 students attending HBCUs. The foundation has suggested internships, offered matching grant support, and career development to deserving students.
