The Untold Global Health Stories of 2022 Contest

The 2022 Untold Stories of Global Health Contest has been announced by the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) and Global Health NOW from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The goal of the competition is to give significant but underreported global health stories a voice.

The purpose of CUGH and GHN is to raise global awareness about health concerns. We were hoping you could submit a nomination for a problem that you believe needs immediate attention, whether you’ve worked on it or come across it on your travels. The nomination deadline is on January 2, 2022.

The Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) fosters multidisciplinary cooperation and knowledge exchange to address global health concerns. It enables members to share their knowledge in the areas of education, research, and service. It is committed to achieving fairness and decreasing health inequities around the world. CUGH fosters long-term, mutually beneficial cooperation between universities in resource-rich and resource-poor nations, with the goal of growing human capital and enhancing institutions’ ability to solve these issues. It is dedicated to putting knowledge into practice. Worldwide Health NOW is a cleverly curated, free, easy-to-scan weekday email from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health that brings critical news, unique opinions, and original reporting on the US and global public health to 50,000+ subscribers in 170 countries.

Who is Eligible?

CUGH and GHN will assess the contest based on the submissions’ newsworthiness, inventiveness, and coverage feasibility. One winning tale will be covered by GHN and published in the magazine. At least six runners-up will be honored as well. All winning entries will be published on the CUGH website and in the bulletin. The runners-up entries will be considered and shared by GHN as sources for prospective coverage pieces. At least one of the runner-up ideas will be included in GHN as a narrative or series of articles.

How to Apply?

Send us your ideas, and if the organization decides your concern, and work with you to extend its reach. Please submit your submission here, along with a brief (150-word) statement about the story and why it needs more attention and support. Include your name, contact phone number, email address, and postal address, along with your application mail.

Benefits

The winner will be revealed during CUGH’s virtual conference, which will take place from March 28 to April 1, 2022. Short summaries of the runners-up will be published on the GHN website. The winner will get complimentary entrance to the CUGH conference (up to one nominee per entry).
