The Smart Logistics Challenge for the European Students

Are you an engineering or business student? In collaboration with Student Competitions and Sqore, the FEM is organizing the Smart Logistics Challenge competition. The competition is an initiative designed to connect with university students by giving them the chance to share their ideas on the most exciting trends transforming the industry.

Business and engineering students from across Europe who are enrolled in a university program at any level are eligible to apply. The six winners will receive a paid traineeship with one of the partner companies, and even a VIP Invitation to the FEM Congress – the leading European Congress of the material handling industry.

Who May Eligible?

To eligible, the candidates must be following all the eligibility criteria:

  • The Smart Logistics Challenge is open to students from across Europe. Students from the following countries are eligible to compete:
  1. 28 EU countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom.
  2. Non-EU countries: Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Turkey, and
  • To be eligible participants need to be permanent residents or citizens of the countries mentioned above.
  • You also have to be above 18 years old and enrolled in a university program at any level.
  • Students from the following programs are welcome to submit their work: Business, Engineering, Design Engineering, Software Engineering, Industrial Design and Product Design.
  • Applicants can participate individually or in teams of up to two (2) members. When competing as a team, you must pick a team leader who will be responsible for the registration and all the communication regarding this challenge.

How to Apply & Competitions Rules

The competition is challenging you to re-think how materials handling can work in the future. How can companies make use of Logistics 4.0 to push the envelope in the industry? Your idea could be the next big thing in materials handling!

Rules

  • All you have to do is submit a one-page case solution, and you stand to win a paid traineeship with a top logistics company. It’s that easy! Your successful career can start today.
  • You can join the conversation with #DeliverTomorrow
  • 30 finalists will continue to the next round, where they will be mentored by industry experts to complete their concepts. So make sure you enter in time!
  • If you are selected as a finalist, you need to provide an official document from your university confirming your enrollment and student status. The document can be obtained from your student services center, international office or one of your professors.

Work Submission:

Your submission should consist of the following:

  • A submission title
  • A short description of your case solution (max. 150 words)
  • A presentation of your case solution in PDF format (max. 500-word idea description, 12-size Arial font, max. 3 pages, including cover page and visual illustrations etc, max. 15MB.).

Benefits:

They’re covering three case studies: Enablers of E-commerce, Robotics in Logistics 4.0, or Logistics in a Sharing Economy – each one requiring a forward-looking and solution-oriented approach.

The top six contestants with the best concepts will win:

VIP trip to Antwerp: VIP Invitation to the Award Ceremony at the FEM Congress on 13-14 September 2018 in Antwerp (Belgium), including:

  • Travel and accommodation
  • CEO lunch and Gala dinner to meet with top companies and CEOs in the industry
  • An exclusive city tour in Antwerp

Paid traineeship:

  • A six-month paid traineeship with one of these top companies in Europe: Balyo, Linde, SSI Schaefer Group, Stow, Toyota Material Handling, and Vanderlande*
  • Each winner will be assigned to a company and if there are two team members, both will be offered the traineeship

TrendSpotter Award: The finalists with the most votes online during the period 30 May – 13 June 2018, will be awarded a special TrendSpotter Award and a VIP Invitation to the FEM Congress on 13-14 September 2018 in Antwerp (Belgium), including:

  • Travel and accommodation
  • CEO Lunch and Gala dinner to meet with top companies and CEOs in the industry
  • An exclusive city tour in Antwerp
