The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation is giving enormous financial assistance to students through its Public School Scholarships Program. The program is open for graduating public high school students throughout Wisconsin. Applicants should also be a resident of Wisconsin to qualify the program.

The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation started the program to assist needy students financially. Through these funds, the recipients will be able to cover any of the educational purposes. Students with a good academic record and complete applications will be considered for the scholarship program.

The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation was established in January 1990. It is a component of Herb Kohl Philanthropies, which supports several initiatives, all aimed at improving education, economic opportunity and quality of life for the people of Milwaukee and Wisconsin.  These initiatives include Herb Kohl Charities and Learning Journeys, in addition to the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation.

Who May Be Eligible?

Candidates with below requirements will be considered for the program:

• Applicants who are unlikely to be eligible for other academic-based scholarships;
• Must have overcome personal obstacles or other adversity;
• Must have achieved an academic record that represents their maximum effort;
• Must show strong promise for succeeding in a postsecondary environment as evidenced by a well-rounded, solid secondary school performance;
• Must display other outstanding qualities, demonstrate a high level of motivation to achieve

How to Apply

If eligible students’ school are among those designated to receive a Kohl Initiative Scholarship in 2021, and they believe that they have met the scholarship criteria, then contact their school’s principal/administrator or counsellor. Students are not required to submit any separate applications to get considered for the program.

Benefits

The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation annually awards its $10,000 Initiative Scholarship to 86 graduating public high school students throughout Wisconsin.  This is in addition to the Excellence Scholarship and is offered to a limited number of high schools each year. These funds help students in becoming financially stable and complete their studies without any burden.

Application Deadline

Friday, January 29, 2021, is the deadline for schools to send their 2021 Initiative Scholarship recipients. Schools should complete their online selection forms.
