The Armed Forces of Communication and Electronics Association (AFCEA) has organized a Cyber Edge Writing Contest for all the members of industry, academia, government, and military who are 18 years old or more. The people who belong to these categories can apply for this contest. Participants have to write an original news feature, analysis, and commentary article on the evolving technologies to impulse and motivate innovation and support the agencies and companies achieve a successful joint end-state. As technology is rising day by day and everything is becoming digital, Cyber Attacks have also increased, including cyber warfighting, so this contest’s focus can be on technology, programs, processes, and/or solutions.
The participants who will participate in this contest and write an article about the given theme will be judged based on their content’s originality, alignment with the contest’s theme, usefulness, objectivity, and writing quality. Based on these concepts, three winners will be selected and awarded as $5,000, $2,000, and $1,000. With the prizes, the top three articles will also be published by SIGNAL media. This will increase their knowledge and provide the opportunity to help those agencies and companies achieve a joint end state.
The AFCEA was started in the year 1946 and is a member-based, non-profit association which works on core values as Ethics, Visionary leadership, Commitment, Quality, Education. And Diversity. Its mission is to increase knowledge through the exploration of issues relevant to its members in information technology, communications, and electronics for the defense, homeland security, and intelligence communities, and vision is to be the premier information technology, communications, and electronics association for professionals in international government, industry, and academia worldwide.

Who is Eligible?

How to Apply?
The eligible applicants should write an article and create their original new feature, analysis, and commentary on the emerging technologies to motivate innovation and support agencies and companies in achieving a prosperous joint state. They must also explore the future of cyber warfighting through their article. Their primary focus can include technology, programs, processes, and/or solutions. Before starting writing, they must review the SIGNAL Magazine Writers Guide and SIGNAL Magazine feature articles. In contrast, writing participants must adapt the news writing style based on the inverted pyramid and not depend on footnotes to provide attributions or references. Participants can write the article individually or include co-authors not more than 3. Participants can submit their entries on the below link provided.
Rules
- Articles submitted elsewhere or previously published in print, online, or any other format are not eligible
- Word count for articles should be between 1200 to 1600 words
- Do not include images at the time of submission; images for winning articles will be requested when the winner is notified
- Remove any identification or biographic information from the

- Entries may be co-authored by up to three people. If co-authors are named, the published prize amount will be divided equally among the co-authors.
- An individual may only submit one article or co-writer on one article per contest year.
- An individual may win only once every three years.
- Only submissions that follow The Cyber Edge Writing Contest rules stated above are eligible.
Benefits
The participants who will participate in this contest and write their articles will be judged based on their content originality, alignment with the content’s theme, usefulness, objectivity, and writing quality. The participants who will do their best in these concepts will be selected for awards; among all the articles, three will be selected as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners and awarded $5,000, $2,000, and $1,000, respectively. With this, the articles will be published by SIGNAL media. If participants participate with their co-authors, i.e., a maximum of 3, the exact amount will be distributed among those three. The winners will get a chance to share their thoughts, opinions, and points that are focused on Technology, programs, processes, and solutions that will help the agencies and companies in achieving a successful joint end-state.

The interested and eligible participants in this contest should submit their articles on the provided submission page no later than February 28, 2022. Submissions received after this date will not be accepted.
