The education and Training Voucher (ETV) Program is accepting applications for the academic year 2022-2023. The following program allows Texas to help current and previous foster youth and young adults, youth adopted at age 16, and youth who enter Permanency Care Assistance at age 16 to have a smoother journey towards fruitful adulthood by giving subsidizing and assistance to students so that they can accomplish their instructive goals. Who is Eligible?
Following qualification requirements needs to be satisfied for this grant:
- be at least 16 and likely to remain in DFPS foster care until turning 18, or are in extended foster care; or
- have aged out of DFPS foster care and are not yet age 25 (before September 30, 2022); or
- have been adopted from DFPS foster care after turning age 16 and not yet age 25 (before September 30, 2022); or
- have entered the Permanency Care Assistance (PCA) program after turning 16 and are not yet age 25 (before September 30, 2022).
Other Eligible Students include:
- Youth placed in the custody of the Texas Juvenile Justice Department or under the jurisdiction of a local juvenile probation department who were receiving Title IV-E foster care payments the day before turning age 18 and are not yet age 25 (before September 30, 2022); or
- Tribal youth or young adults in tribal foster care are not yet age 25 (before September 30, 2022).

Benefits
The Texas Education and Training Voucher ETV Program offers grant assistance up to $12,000 per year until your 25th birthday as long as you are enrolled in a post-secondary education institution and satisfy the enrollment criteria and satisfactory academic progress policies established by the institutions. The awarded funds will be directly going against your education through the financial aid office of the institution you are going to.
