Students who are enrolled in a Tennessee public, charters, private school, or home school association have a brilliant opportunity to be the part of Tennessee Secretary of State. The Tennessee Secretary of State program is inviting candidates to compete for its Civic Essay Contest. Eligible students end sign up and complete a shift as a poll official in election day should share their experience and the importance of performing the civic duty. Fellows must be a resident of Tennessee and be at least 16 years of age to be eligible.
This contest aims to give the students platform to Express their experience of performing such a big responsibility and being part of civic duty. This contest encourages and enhances the interest of students in civic duty. With some funds, the state is willing to pay for the educational expense of the students and motivate them to do better in their careers. This contest appreciates the student’s interest in civic duty and encourages them to grow their career in the same.
The mission of Tennessee Secretary of State is to exceed the expectations of their customers, the taxpayers, by operating at the highest level of accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and accountability in a customer-centered environment. The Tennessee Secretary of State has oversight of the Department of State. The Secretary of State is one of three Constitutional Officers elected by the General Assembly, in joint session. The Secretary of State is elected to a four-year term.

Who May Be Eligible?

How to Apply
Eligible candidates are only welcome to apply for this contest. Fellows should submit the essays before the deadline. Late or incomplete applications will be rejected. All the information should be provided adequately, and essays should be according to the guidelines.

Benefits
One student from each of Tennessee’s three Grand Divisions will receive the following scholarships:
- 1st Place: $1000
- 2nd Place: $500
- 3rd Place: $250
This amount should be used to pay the educational expenses of the candidates. This contest encourages the student’s interest in civic duty.
