Surana and Surana International Essay Writing Competition

Ramaiah College of Law in collaboration with Surana and Surana International Attorneys is pleased to organize 2nd edition of Surana and Surana International Essay Writing Competition. The Competition is open to all students who are pursuing their B.A.LLB./LL.M./Ph.D./M.Phil. or any other Undergraduate or Master courses (other than Law) in any university across the world.

Who May Eligible:

To eligible, the candidates must be following all the eligibility criteria:

• The Competition is open to the students who are pursuing their B.A.LLB./LL.M./Ph.D./M.Phil.
  or any other Undergraduate or Master courses (other than Law) in any university across the
  world.
• If any student of the RCL is positioned amongst the top three, he/she will not be eligible for the
  top three prizes but will be felicitated in recognition of his/her performance with a special prize
  by Surana & Surana International Attorneys, Chennai at the valedictory function.

How to Apply & Competitions Rules:

To participate, the applicants must download a Registration Form and submit with an essay in MS Word format with the subject “RCL Essay Writing Competition”- Name of Author (s).

The themes for the Essay Competition are:

• Media and Communication Law vis-à-vis Data Protection
• Media and Communication Law vis-à-vis Censorship
• Media and Communication Law vis-à-vis Sports
• Media & Communication Law vis-à-vis Privacy Issue

To participate applicants must mail registration form with an essay and cover page containing the name of participant(s), address, e-mail-id, contact number and name of college/university with address and class at seminar@msrcl.org

Rules:

• The essay must be written in English.
• Only one submission is allowed per author. (Submissions both as co-author and single will be treated as multiple submissions. In case of such submissions, the single submission will be rejected and disqualified as an entry to the competition).
• Co-authorship to a maximum of two authors is permitted.
• The essays will be scrutinized through anti-plagiarism software. Only original essays will be considered for the competition.
• Identification mark must not be found in any part of the essay.
• The registration form is to be sent along with the essay.
• The registration form must be signed and sealed by the Head of the Institution/University.
• In case of unavailability of the head of the institution, any senior faculty may sign the same. Or you may send the scanned copy of your Identity Card.
• The submission shall consist of an abstract and essay.
• The abstract should not be more than 200 words inclusive of title and keywords.
• The essay should not be more than 2000-2500 words (excluding footnotes, abstract).
• In case of co-authors, separate Registration Forms shall be sent for each.

• Footnotes must conform to the authoritative standard rules of legal citation and must include a description of each authority adequate enough to allow a reasonable reader to identify and locate the authority in a publication of general circulation.

Benefits:

• The First Prize shall comprise of Surana & Surana Award Cash Prize of 25,000 and a certificate.
• The Second Prize shall comprise of Surana & Surana Award Cash Prize of 15,000 and a certificate.
• The Third Prize shall comprise of Surana & Surana Award Cash Prize of 10,000 and a certificate.
• The name of the winner will be displayed on the RCL Website.
