Everyone needs extra help in one’s life. But when it comes to seniors, it is seen that they are more dependent on their family or others for support. Such seniors, who are in the need of extra help, find a caregiver who assists them in doing daily tasks and supports non-medical aspects of their lives. With the increasing population of aging adults, the responsibilities and role of a caregiver falls onto younger adults. Being a caregiver can be a challenging task if you are a student. You have to focus on your education along with take care of the person whom you have been caregiver of. It can be overwhelming for a student. To help such students, who have been playing the role of a caregiver, with their education, Nelson Elder Care Law has announced an amazing Student Caregiver Scholarship. For this program, undergraduate and graduate students will be recruited. High school seniors who have been enrolled at a college are also welcome to apply.
This scholarship will support and encourage those students who put others first and care of those who are unable to do their tasks and care of themselves. The motive of Nelson Elder Care Law behind making available this scheme is to recognize and reward one compassionate student who has been dedicated to helping elderly adults. This scheme will benefit anyone who volunteers with seniors either at a long-term care facility or nursing home, those who takes care of an elderly family member, or those who helps the aging in another way. The application process of this program is kept simple so that maximum students can apply. It includes sending some required documents via email to Nelson Elder Care Law.

Who May Be Eligible
If you meet these requirements, you can be a part of this program:
- Students must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program within the United States;
- High school seniors who will be enrolled in college before the application deadline of September 30, 2021 are also encouraged to participate;
- Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and applications must be submitted on or by the deadline of September 30th.
How to Apply
Send the following documents to woodstock@nelsoneldercarelaw.com by the application deadline:
- A current academic transcript, either official or unofficial
- High school seniors must additionally submit proof of acceptance into college, university or trade school
- An updated resume detailing your academic, professional, and/or community service experiences.
- A 750-word essay explaining if you volunteer at a long-term care facility, take care of an elderly family member, or volunteer with seniors? Share why you have chosen to help the elderly and how volunteering has shaped you.
Benefits
Winners will receive educational fund to cover their study expenses and fund their advanced degree. This scholarship will lessen their financial burden and encourage them to give better during their education. It will recognize what they are doing as caregiver, and give them confidence to continue volunteering with seniors.
