The Sitka Tribe of Alaska is keen on supporting their community by increasing the count of educated students. For that, the Sitka Tribe of Alaska is proud to support their STA tribal youth through the STA Youth activities scholarship program. Applicants must be enrolled STA Tribal citizens between the age of 7 to 18 to apply. Fellows should be participating in some extra circular activities such as sports, music, art, and school activity. So, it’s time to get some funds for advancing your skills.
The primary purpose of the program is to support the students of the tribal community and encourage them to level up their skills by learning different extracurricular activities. This program is designed to provide needed funding to the deserving students who are passionate about learning a new skill or art form. The scholarship is initiated to support the youth of the community and grow them and society through education.
Sitka Tribe of Alaska (STA) is an Indian Reorganization Act Tribal government. Their nine-person Council is composed of individuals elected by the Tribal Citizens. The Council supervises a General Manager hired by and serving at the will of the Council. Before 1993, STA operated its basic services programs through Public Law 93-638 Indian Self- Determination Act contracts. Shortly after that, the Tribe entered a Self-Governance Compact (authorized by Public Law 100-472) and has since negotiated an annual funding agreement with the U.S. Government for general operations and provision of a variety of programs including employment rights, natural and cultural resource protection, higher and vocational education, domestic violence prevention, social services, and more. STA employs an outside accounting firm to conduct an independent audit of each year’s transactions and holdings.
