The St. Gallen Symposium is the world’s leading drive for intergenerational debates on monetary, political, and social turns of events. The conference happens in May at the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland. The St. Gallen Symposium is annually hosted by the International Students’ Committee (ISC), a free understudy drive at the University of St.Gallen.

How to Apply?

The qualified candidates who are intrigued to apply are required to fill out the application form; the link to the application form is provided on the official portal of the grant. What’s more, the applicants will likewise need to compose an essay  (max. 2,100 words, excl. abstract, bibliography, and footnotes) on the following question:

Your name, e-mail address, university, or identifying details must not be mentioned anywhere in the contribution file.

Supporting Documents

Below is the list of the documents that need to be attached with your application form:

  • Copy of passport or other identification (in English for non-Roman languages)
  • Confirmation of matriculation/enrolment from your university, which proves your enrollment in a graduate/postgraduate level program as of February 1, 2022 (download sample document here)
  • Your contribution file with no indication of your name in the file name, the file metadata, or the file itself


Since it’s an essay competition, all the applications will be judged based on their essays, and out of all, three of the best will be chosen and be granted the prize they deserve. The three winners will receive CHF 20,000 in total, split between them. The winners will also receive recognition and appreciation from the organization, and their essays will be published on the official website.

Application Deadline

The participants are suggested to submit their essays on or before the deadline, i.e., February 1, 2022. Any entries submitted later than the deadline will not be considered, leading to disqualification from the program. So please hurry up and apply before it gets late.
