Speech Pathology Scholarships

Communication disorders are diagnosed and treated by speech-language pathologists, also known as speech therapists. Both conditions include, but are not limited to, the consequences of physical injuries or Autism Spectrum Disorder. Speech therapists may undergo a comprehensive master’s degree to obtain a certificate in their home state and too many psychiatric disorders may impair people’s communication skills.

The amount of time it takes to complete a program and receives a license can be four years or more (two years to achieve a degree and two or more years to fulfill a state’s experience requirement). If there is one trait that any speech-language pathologist (SLP) has in common, they have invested a significant amount of time in school to get to where they are now. A post-degree bachelor’s is required for professional licensing and registration, which means four years of college as an undergrad followed by another two years or so obtaining at least a master’s degree. It will easily take much longer if a clinical practicum study is included.

That kind of school isn’t inexpensive. A master’s degree in speech-language pathology (SLP) or communication sciences and disorders (CSD) will cost anything from $23,000 to $75,000 at a public university and up to $90,000 at a private school.

To help you get started, here are 10 scholarships!
