South Dakota Retailers Association is very proud to make possible wonderful scholarship programs for 2021. These scholarships are targeted toward helping students who are interested in the retail and hospitality industry and studying with the purpose of establishing a successful career in these industries. There are five awards available for students at the South Dakota Retailers Association. To be eligible to enter in this program, applicants should be enrolled in a retail or retail-related course of study at a qualifying, accredited technical school, college, university, or certified professional training institute in the fall of 2021. Students pursuing an online degree are also eligible to apply.
Retail and hospitality industry is becoming more and more popular among students by each passing day. Nowadays, students are aspired to work in this industry, whether as an owner, manager, or employee. Unfortunately, increased cost of education is playing a vital role in keeping students from achieving their goals and becoming what they want to be. Colleges and universities’ tuition is the major matter of concern for students these days. There are many students out there who cannot even afford to attend a college despite having talent and being worthy. To provide such students with a helping hand, South Dakota Retailers Association has brought these funding schemes that will encourage them by supporting their education.
South Dakota Retailers Association has been working as one of the country’s oldest and largest retail trade associations. This organization was established with the motive of representing retail business people of South Dakota’s interests. Today, South Dakota Retailers Association has nearly 4,000 members representing more than 160 business categories.

Who May Be Eligible
Applicants who meet the following criteria successfully are eligible to apply:
- Applicant must desire a career in a retail or retail-related field.
- Candidates must enrol in a retail or retail-related course of study at a qualifying, accredited technical school, college, university, or certified professional training institute in the fall of 2021. Enrollment in an online degree program from a qualifying school is acceptable.
- Examples of fields of study considered to be retail or retail-related include (but are not limited to): Accounting, Agribusiness, Apparel Merchandising, Auto Mechanics, Automotive Technology, Business Administration, Business Management, Collision Repair, Computer Science, Commercial Baking, Culinary Arts, Diesel Mechanics, Electrical Maintenance, Gemology, Grocery, Heating/Ventilation, Hotel/Restaurant Management, Landscape Design, Pharmacy, Photography, Printing Industries, Refrigeration, Sales/Marketing Management, and Tourism Industry Management. (NOTE: this list is not all-inclusive.)
- Aspirants must be graduated from a South Dakota high school;
- Recipients should have earned high school equivalency (such as a GED) in South Dakota;
- Applicants must have the plan to attend post-secondary school in South Dakota;
- Applicant must have completed at least 24 credits from a qualifying college or university, or 12 credits from a qualifying tech school or certified professional training institute by September of 2021 to be eligible. We will consider full-time post-secondary work experience in lieu of the post-secondary education requirement.

Benefits
South Dakota Retailers Association is currently offering five scholarships in amounts ranging from $2,000 to $2,700. These scholarships will help students earn an advanced degree in their desired field of study and graduate debt-free. The award amount will serve as helping hand for students who are financially disadvantaged.
