Semi-Annual Pumphrey Law Scholarships

The Pumphrey Law criminal defense is excited to announce that they offer a semi-annual scholarship to provide monetary support to the students in need. The following scholarship targets those students who demonstrate any unmet financial requirement or are deprived of acquiring education because of economic issues. The next scholarship is need-based as well as merit-based; therefore, in order to get this scholarship, the candidate must be in excellent academic standing and have good character.

As for eligibility, the Semi-Annual Pumphrey Law Scholarship is open to all those candidates who are currently enrolled at an accredited college or university in the following academic year and who are legal and permanent residents of the United States. to apply, the candidates will have to write an essay on the given topic concerning criminal defense in no more than 1,000 words. The three most deserving candidates will be chosen and be granted with following awards:1st place– $750, 2nd place – $500, and 3rd Place – $250. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is December 06, 2021.

A former prosecutor and a law enforcement officer, Lawyer Don Pumphrey, Jr., is an effective and experienced criminal defense lawyer. Through his encounters as a former prosecutor and law enforcement officer for the State Attorney’s Office in Pinellas County and as a criminal defense lawyer with his own private practice, Don Pumphrey, Jr. has broad preliminary experience. He is proficient in all parts of the criminal equity framework, from criminal examination to condemning.

To apply for this following scholarship, the candidates are expected to write 800-1000 words on one of the following topics: 

  • What do you think the purposes of the criminal justice system are, and is the current system achieving those purposes?
  • What do you think the causes of wrongful convictions are, and what are some proposed changes that you feel would help remedy this pervasive issue?
  • Does social media help social justice cause or hurt them? What are other avenues for furthering social change in the justice system?

The candidates are additionally required to complete the application form provided on the portal and submit all the concerned materials via email to PumphreyLawScholarship@gmail.com.
