We all need a second chance in different phases of our life from education to career. Second chance means a new opportunity to ignite our passion, give our best and make a positive difference in our life. With all these thoughts, the Washington State Elks Association has come forward with an amazing program called “Second Chances Scholarship”. This foundation has initiated this scheme to support women who desire to take a new step in their learning journey. Any female over 25 years of age who wants to pursue an eligible vocational/technical course in the state of Washington, above and supplemental to high school or preparatory school level, are encouraged to file an application for this program. Candidates of this program should be citizens of the United States of America.
Through this funding program, the Washington State Elks Association is looking forward to empowering and support those talented women who are willing to advance their education. This scholarship will act as a second chance for women and provide them with monetary aid in their academic pursuits. It will encourage them to follow their dreams and passion and prevent them from giving up on their dreams by making available needed financial support for them. This 1k scholarship will be awarded per quarter based on the financial need of applicants. This is a renewal scholarship; however, renewal is based on a GPA of 3.O.
Washington State Elks Association was formed in 1905 and is made up of the state Subordinate lodges of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America. With 36 member lodges within Washington State and over 31,000 members, it strives to unite all Elks in closer bonds of fraternity, to promote the interests of the Order, exchange items beneficial to member Lodges, nurture the virtues of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love, and Fidelity and to advance the patriotic devotion to the principles of the United States of America.

Supporting Documents
- A statement by the applicant of between 200 and 300 words, summarizing her activities, accomplishments, financial needs and objectives,
- which the applicant thinks qualifies her for a grant.
- A letter of not over 150 words from a person having knowledge of the facts, presenting a picture of the family situation and showing the applicant’s family background (such as number of children in the family, number of children still at home, and any information to establish factors judged under Judging Standards). Letter should include the writer’s relationship with the applicant.
- Letter of recommendation from someone who has served in a supervisory position such as an employer or supervisor attesting to the applicant’s reliability, motivation and trustworthiness. All letters should include the name, address and phone number of the writer for verification
- Any other information which you feel will help judge your worthiness for a scholarship.
- Copies of transcripts of grades if the course is in progress
- Finalists will be interviewed by judges either in person or by phone
Benefits
This scholarship is valued at $1,000 and will assist students to cover their education-related expenses. Winners can easily pursue the course of their choice with the help of received money that doesn’t need to be repaid. This 1k award can be applied to the usual and required costs of the applicant’s planned course of study and paid directly to the school.
