The SCI Seligman APV Trust is happy to announce SCI Seligman APV Travel Bursary to help young engineers learn from, and network with, prominent food engineers from around the world. The bursary is open to engineers in the early stages of their career.
The Travel Bursary is designed to support the career development of Ph.D. students, postdoctoral researchers and industrial researchers, by helping them to broaden their vision and share cutting-edge knowledge at international conferences or laboratory visits.

Who May Eligible:
- Applications are invited from engineers in the early stages of their career; typically this will be up to 10 years after completion of the first degree, or 10 years after starting the first position in engineering.
- Applications will not be considered from those who have previously received an SCI travel bursary
How to Apply & Competitions Rules:
To submit your application, you must complete the online application form via the link at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/MQTF2H6
- All applications must be accompanied by a reference letter (max 1 side A4), and confirmation that the applicant has been accepted to present at their chosen conference. And submit both documents to awards@soci.org.
Rules:
- Funding will not be given for visits which are part of the normal course of a co-sponsored PhD
- Applications will not be considered from those who have previously received an SCI travel bursary
- Preference may be given to those presenting a paper/poster at their chosen conference and will be required to provide confirmation that their presentation has been accepted when applying for this award
Benefits:
The Seligman APV Trust will support applicants who wish to apply for bursaries to:
- EHEDG World Congress on Hygienic Engineering & Design 2018, London, UK, 21-22 November 2018 (October deadline travel restrictions extended to include November this year 2018) – 1 bursary available at £250
- ICEF13 – 13th edition of the International Congress on Engineering and Food, Melbourne, Australia, 23-26 September 2019 – Multiple bursaries available at £1000
- Awards of up to £1000 will be made, on a competitive basis, to assist with travel, subsistence or conference registration fees to any Food Engineering conference.
- Bursaries will be offered in 3 categories:
- UK students traveling to UK events: £250
- UK students traveling to European events: £500
- UK and non-UK students traveling to events outside of Europe and far from their home country: £1000
Application Deadline:
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis throughout the year.
- 15 April (for travel between 1 June and 31 December)
- 15 October (for travel between 1 December and 30 June)
