Don Fryxell Scholarship

The Augustana University is pleased to announce the Don Fryxell Scholarship to applicants who plan to choose a major in the Humanities. Incoming first-year students are invited to apply and preference will be given to candidates who plan to major in English or Journalism.  This is a $1,000 scholarship, awarded annually for up to four years. Students awarded the Fryxell Scholarship must maintain both a major in the Humanities and a 3.0 GPA for annual renewal.

Islamic Scholarship Fund (ISF) Scholarship

Islamic Scholarship Fund is proud to announce the ISF Scholarship. To eligible, applicant must be a Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S. who is Muslim or active member of the Muslim community and majoring in an ISF supported major such as Film, Media, Journalism, Writing (Creative writing and English), Law and Related Fields, Public Policy, International Studies, Public Administration, History, Sociology, and Religious Studies. Scholarships range from $2,000-$5000.

Scholarships for English Major

Norma Ross Walter Scholarship

The Willa Cather Foundation is pleased to offer the Norma Ross Walter Scholarship. The purpose of the program is to provide financial assistance to female graduates of Nebraska high schools who plan to enroll as English majors in accredited colleges or universities. The program will provide $2,500 for first place recipient, $1,750 for second place, and $1,250 for third place recipient. Each stipend is payable at the beginning of the first year of college.

English Department Scholarships

At the NC State University, the Undergraduate Studies Committee of the English Department welcomes applications from English majors for the following four scholarships (A.M. Fountain Scholarship – $1,000, Eugene H. Harrison Scholarship – $1,000, Guy Owen Memorial Scholarship – $1,000, and Department of English Interns’ Scholarship – $750 per semester). English majors should apply for Department of English scholarships using Pack Assist. New students should apply as soon as they are admitted.

Scholarships for English Major

English Department Undergraduate English Scholarships

At the University of Washington, English Department scholarships are available for declared UW Seattle English majors only. The scholarships are awarded toward standard resident full-time tuition only and do not include other student fees, books or expenses. All current English majors are urged to apply. There are eight undergraduate English scholarships available that vary from approximately $150 to full tuition.

ISI’s Graduate Fellowship Program

ISI’s Graduate Fellowship Program is characterized by the observation of Richard M. Weaver that “a liberal education specifically prepares for the achievement of freedom.” To eligible, the applicants must be U.S. citizens who will be enrolled in a full-time graduate program for the academic year 2018–19. For the 2018–19 academic year, ISI will grant up to 15 awards, ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 each.

Lily Pabilona Emerging Entrepreneur Scholarship

The Lily Pabilona Emerging Entrepreneur Scholarship recognizes Asian American high school, graduate and post-graduate students pursuing a career in entrepreneurship. To eligible, the applicant must be either a high school senior or a college student currently enrolled full-time at an accredited U.S. vocational, junior college or four-year college/university and must be a full- time, degree-seeking student by the upcoming academic calendar year. The program will provide two $5,000 awards for U.S. students attending accredited American universities.

State Association Scholarship

The State Association Memorial Scholarship is open to honor their pioneer ancestors. In order to be eligible for the scholarship, you must be a pioneer descendant and either a full-time junior, senior or graduate student enrolled at an accredited Washington state institution. Preference will be given to History, Education, and English majors. The State Association of the Daughters of Pioneers of Washington grants two (2) $1500.00 scholarships annually.

Scholarships for English Major

English Department Interns’ Scholarship

At the NC State University, the Undergraduate Studies Committee of the English Department is now offering the English Department Interns’ Scholarship. The scholarship is open to juniors and seniors registered full-time at NCSU with a declared major or minor in English. The scholarship provides $750 per semester to qualified students. Recipients agree to complete an unpaid internship for a nonprofit organization or government agency through the Department of English Internship Program.

At the Jacksonville State University, the Department of Political Science & Public Administration is now offering a scholarship. A junior or senior who has maintained a 3.25 overall GPA in his or her undergraduate studies with a 3.5 GPA in his or her field of major study which includes: political science, history, psychology, English, business, criminal justice, and sociology.
