The Community of Northern Nevada is pleased to announce that they are offering a one-time grant of up to $1,000 for an understudy going to Truckee Meadows Community College, Western Nevada College, or Great Basin College, seeking a degree or certificate program. The cutoff time to apply through the online application is April 30. The Smith Family Scholarship helps reemergence and non-conventional understudies succeed. The Ron and Linda Smith Family Scholarship is presented to Northern Nevada occupants going to Truckee Meadows Community College, Western Nevada College, or Great Basin College, who are seeking after a degree or certification program, or who are joined up with a professional program at a vocational school. The Smith Family Scholarship is intended for an understudy who is a U.S. Resident and is a graduating secondary school senior or non-conventional understudy. Set up in 1998 as a Nevada non-profit 501(c) 3 Corporation, the Community Foundation of Western Nevada has circulated more than $145 million in awards and grants from 247 charitable assets to fortify their Nevada home. The Community Foundation resources comprise of contributed donor exhorted reserves, allotments, assigned and heritage reserves, and the Community Endowment.

Who is Eligible?
The eligibility criteria for the following scholarship is as follows:
- is a U.S. Citizen
- is a graduating high school senior or nontraditional student
- has a high school diploma or equivalency
- has a minimum 3.2 unweighted cumulative GPA
- is a resident of Northern Nevada
- is pursuing a degree or certificate from TMCC, WNC, or GBC; or is enrolled in a vocational program
- agrees to maintain a minimum 2.5-grade point average
How to Apply?
All eligible candidates can apply for this scholarship by submitting a 400-word essay that tells the selection committee about your goals and how this scholarship will help you achieve them, where you see yourself five years from now, how your education will be of value to the community, and anything you want to be known that is not apparent in the rest of this application.
The completed applications can be submitted by logging in to the page, link to which is given on the scholarship portal.
Following are the documents that need to be attached with your application form:
- A copy of an unofficial high school transcript
After reviewing all the submissions, the candidate with the best response to the given prompt will be selected as the winner of the scholarship and be granted the scholarship money of $1,000.
The applications for this particular scholarship will close on April 30, 2022. Any entries received later this date will not be considered.
