The Ron and Linda Smith Family Scholarship is presented to Northern Nevada occupants going to Truckee Meadows Community College, Western Nevada College, or Great Basin College, who are seeking after a degree or certification program, or who are joined up with a professional program at a vocational school. The Smith Family Scholarship is intended for an understudy who is a U.S. Resident and is a graduating secondary school senior or non-conventional understudy. The Community Foundation resources comprise of contributed donor exhorted reserves, allotments, assigned and heritage reserves, and the Community Endowment.

Who is Eligible?
The eligibility criteria for the following scholarship is as follows:
- is a U.S. Citizen
- is a graduating high school senior or nontraditional student
- has a high school diploma or equivalency
- has a minimum 3.2 unweighted cumulative GPA
- is a resident of Northern Nevada
- is pursuing a degree or certificate from TMCC, WNC, or GBC; or is enrolled in a vocational program
- agrees to maintain a minimum 2.5-grade point average

All eligible candidates can apply for this scholarship by submitting a 400-word essay that tells the selection committee about your goals and how this scholarship will help you achieve them, where you see yourself five years from now, how your education will be of value to the community, and anything you want to be known that is not apparent in the rest of this application.
