Junior League of Albany has come up with their annual scholarship program, celebrated every year in honor of late Junior League of Albany member Marjorie Doyle Rockwell. The program is for the female residents of the Capital District who are high school graduates and currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or secondary educational or vocational program, also involved in volunteer organizations or activities which serve the same or related focus areas as the Junior League of Albany and who meet other eligibility requirements. This program provides the opportunity for young women to obtain the education and skills necessary to further their volunteer potential.
Females applying for this scholarship will be selected for awards based on their overall quality, their past activity, their commitment to continue in volunteer activities in the community, and their financial need. Among all the applications, one female will be selected for an award amount of $1,000. The amount will be used for her educational purposes and manage her related expenses such as tuition fees, books, other supplies, accommodation, transportation, and other required fees requirements. This will motivate the female to seek education and develop her skills and continue her community volunteer activities.
The Junior League of Albany, Inc. was founded in 1917 and is a private, non-profit educational women’s volunteer organization that aims to improve communities and the social, cultural, and political fabric of civil society. Their mission is to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women, and improve the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
