Society of Petroleum Engineers coordinates 14 regional student paper contests at undergraduates, masters, and PhD levels. Students compete against each other from the same region for the opportunity to advance to the international student paper contest, held during the annual technical conference and exhibition. Applications are invited to volunteer and judge the Regional Student Paper Contest that is planned to be held on May 29, 2021, from 9 am to Noon Denver/Calgary time. Seats are open for 4 volunteers and 3 judges (numbers may change). To be a judge, the applicant should hold a minimum of the corresponding degree for the division he intends to Judge. Also, previous experience in similar contests, Postsecondary faculty members, individuals presenting at SPE conferences, and the program selection committee for SPE conferences will be preferred.

Who May be eligible
Society of Petroleum Arts is looking for candidates who are available from 9 am to noon Denver/ Calgary time on May 29, 2021, to judges and volunteers at an event.
Criteria for Judges:
- Participate on the day of the competition to review the presentations and score the student.
- Must have a stable internet connection, webcam, and microphone.
- Must hold the corresponding degree of the level whom the candidate intends to judge.
Criteria for Volunteers:
- Approved by SPE staff responsible for the organization of the contest.
- Has a personal interest in developing university students.
- Effective Communicator.
How to Apply
To apply, you need to satisfy the following conditions:
- Read four papers before the competition.
- Ask any questions to students following the presentation.
- Discuss any tie-breaker situation with other judges to decide the winner.
- Participate in debriefing sessions as requested before the competition.
