Redesign Borders International Competition

When it comes to a border, the first things that come to everyone’s mind are conflicts, lack of human rights, abusive immigrant forces and spot of inequity and war. Because of today’s condition of borders worldwide, most of us assume borders to be unpleasant places. Migrants move from one country to another through international crossings making borders the scenario of multiple movements of migration during the last decades. So borders are more than just lines that divide countries. Keeping that in mind, the ARK has initiated an excellent program called “Redesign Borders Competition” for 2021. This competition is available for everyone interested in this issue, no matter background, location, or experience.

This is an international program inviting students from across the world. This competition will welcome all ideas that contribute to changing the concept of borders. The ideas that explain how borders between nations are not treats, but bridges of opportunities and growth, and bridges for our humankind, will be chosen for the prize. The primary motive of this program is to design an architectural project which can transform a crossing border chosen by the participant, to join cultures, peoples, and create a vital spot for economic growth for all sides. Through this program, the ARK wants to transform borders into a place that unites and promotes cultural diversity. All the participants will be asked to create an attractive program for business and different economic sectors.

As a participant of this program, you are free to choose your favourite border location, the program, the scale and the scope of the project. The following topics that need to be taken into consideration by you while making your projects are that your projects must promote cultural diversity, create bridges between nations, cultures and languages and avoids the stigma of walls, limits and division. Moreover, it should be an innovative programme and the original architectural design.
