The natives of Puerto Rico, the colonists and residents of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico (a United States territory), and their descendants are known as Puerto Ricans (Spanish: Puertorriqueos; or boricuas). Puerto Rico is now home to people from a wide range of nationalities. Students who are either from Puerto Rico or come from a family of Puerto Rican ancestry are eligible for Puerto Rican scholarships.
Puerto Rican scholarships, like all other minority scholarships, are school-specific, which means there aren’t many national scholarship competitions specifically for Puerto Ricans. However, there are Puerto Rican scholarships available for individual schools. The qualifications for minority student scholarships vary and are not limited to race or ethnicity. Multi-ethnic students are usually eligible for at least one of the minority scholarships mentioned. Minority scholarships are not limited to citizens of the United States. Students from outside the United States, whether they are studying at home or overseas, are eligible to apply. Some scholarships do not even require U.S. citizenship but read the official rules carefully before applying for one.
The scheme’s goal is to grant scholarships to deserving students from economically disadvantaged minority communities in order to improve their access to higher education, raise their rate of attainment of higher education, and improve their employability.
And in order to help you achieve that, here is a concise list of 10 scholarships to get you started!
