Pickering Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Fellowship

Pickering Foreign Affairs is excitingly calling applicants for their Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Fellowship program. This fellowship is funded by the U.S. Department of the State Program and administered by Howard University. The U.S. students interested in programs related to foreign service and seeking admission to a two year, full-time, on-campus, masters program at a U.S based graduate institution to begin in all 2021 are eligible to apply.

The Pickering Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Fellowship attracts and encourages young brains to pursue their career in Foreign Service in the U.S. Department of the State. It helps students from minority groups to take part and learn more about Foreign Service without worrying about their educational expenses.

Pickering Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Fellowship is based on the principles that diversity is strength. This fellowship program prepares and attracts students to learn the values of various backgrounds, ethnic, racial, social, and geographic diversity. This fellowship also offers a chance to promote positive change in the world.

Who May Be Eligible?

To be eligible applicants should meet the following criteria; only those who stand on these norms should begin the application process.

  • The applicant should be a United States citizen or a permanent resident.
  • Candidate should be enrolled in an accredited U.S. based institution.
  • Applicant must be enrolled into two years, full-time on-campus master’s degree program, which should begin in the Fall of 2021. Applicant should be entered into a degree related to Foreign Service (public administration, international relations, public policy, business, economics, sociology, history, political science, foreign languages, and communications)
  • The student should have a cumulative GPA of a minimum of 3.2 or higher on the scale of 4.0.

How to Apply

Applicants can fill-up the application form with all the documents. Candidates are requested to fill each detail mentioned in the application form. Submit all the documents in the application before the deadlines. Application without documents or incomplete documents will not be considered for the fellowship.

Supporting Documents

  • The applicant should submit the residency proof of being a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Candidate has to submit their official transcript, which should mention the GPA of the applicant.
  • The applicant should also attach the acceptance letter from the U.S. based institution. The master’s program the applicant has enrolled in should be mentioned in the letter with the starting date and the ending date of the program.

Benefits

Pickering Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Fellowship is rewarded to 45 students with the fellowship fund of $42,000 annually to cover the winner’s tuition fee, books, study materials, room, board, and other mandatory fees with $24,000 for the master’s program. Winners will also receive an academic year stipend of $18,000.
