Personal Finance Music Video Contest for Tennessee Students in Grades K-12

During the 2021-2022 school year, Jump$tart will hold its Financial Literacy Music Video Contest. The top three teams will receive trophies and gifts, and on a day that is suitable for each team, a celebration will be conducted for the three winning teams. The top ten teachers or sponsors will get a free registration to the 2022 Tennessee Jump$tart Personal Finance Educators Conference, which will be held at The Park Vista in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, on June 8-10, 2022.

The Tennessee Jump$tart Personal Finance Song Video Contest is meant to allow Tennessee students in grades K-12 to express themselves through music while sharing their finance expertise. Contestants will record a music video in which they will communicate a message about personal finance.

Tennessee Jump$tart is a non-profit group consisting of around 50 individuals and organizations from industry, government, and education that have come together to help Tennessee’s youngsters improve their financial literacy.

Who is Eligible?

Tennessee students in grades K-12 are eligible to enter the contest. Eligible students may attend public, private, charter, or home schools, as well as participate in after-school programs, community clubs, and other activities. Only those who appear in the video or were involved in its development and production are eligible for an award.

How to Apply?

The teacher/group sponsor must email Tennessee Jump$tart (jumpstarttn@gmail.com) the signed competitor release forms (one per student, parent/guardian necessary) and video team registration form prior to video upload. All team members must sign release paperwork. Use the hashtag #tnjmusicvideo2022 on Twitter or Facebook to share your video, or use this link: https://woobox.com/i9hkxx. The “team leader” should be the person whose name is included in the upload. Starting March 1, 2022, finalists will be notified. Finalists will be chosen from the top ten videos with the most “likes” throughout the voting session. As finalists, the judges may choose up to two wildcards. The top 10 finalists and two wildcards will be chosen by the judges. If a video is found to be weak in content, contains profanity or other improper languages (verbal or nonverbal), and/or is submitted after the deadline, it may be disqualified. Other contest rules have not been followed.

Supporting Documents

 Make a song on money management. Create a music video by filming the song performance on your mobile smartphone or other video recording equipment. The duration of the music video must be one minute or less. Individual or group films are permitted, with a maximum of 5 students per team. Per student, up to two entries are permitted (you can appear in up to 2 videos).

Benefits

Awards and prizes will be given to the top three teams. On a day that is convenient for the winning teams, a celebration of your choice will be organized for the top three winners. The top ten teachers/sponsors will get a free ticket to the 2022 TN Jump$tart Personal Financial Education Conference, which will be held at The Park Vista in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, on June 8-10, 2022.

Application Deadline

The last date of the application period remains November 15, 2021-February 11, 2022. Late submission is not acceptable.
