Overture Awards Competition for Grades 9-12 Students

Cincinnati Arts Association is presenting to you the 2022 Overture Awards Competition. The following program recognizes and rewards excellence in the arts among Greater Cincinnati students who are studying in grades 9-12. The primary mission of the competition is to encourage arts education as an integral part of a student’s academic experience and to create an environment that encourages training in, and appreciation of, the arts. The Overture Awards Competition is the area’s largest solo arts competition and offers awards in six artistic disciplines: creative writing, dance, instrumental music, theatre, visual art, and vocal music.

The following 2022 Overture Awards Competition will continue as an online submission and review competition for the Regional and Semi-Final Stages. The Final Competition & Awards Ceremony will take place live and in-person at the AronoffCenter on Saturday, March 12, 2022. The applications and submissions will start from Monday, September 20, 2021, and end on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at 11:59 PM. A link to the application and submissions portal will be available on September 20. To participate, students must be nominated by a coordinator to apply. A teacher, counselor, administrator, or private studio teacher can serve as a coordinator. A nominated student will receive a code from their coordinator that will need to be recorded on their application.

Founded in 1992, the Cincinnati Arts Association (CAA) is a not-for-profit organization that oversees the programming and management of two of the Tri-state’s finest performing arts venues – the Aronoff Center for the Arts and Music Hall – and is dedicated to supporting performing and visual arts. Each year, CAA presents a diverse schedule of events; serves upwards of 600,000 people in its venues; features the work of talented local, regional, and national artists in the Weston Art Gallery (located in the AronoffCenter); and supports the work of more than one dozen resident companies.
