Oregon State University is providing an incredible fellowship program called Oregon NASA Space Grant Consortium Graduate Scholarship for STEM graduate students attending any of member four-year universities in the fields of space science or aerospace. Candidates should be a U.S citizen with an excellent academic record to apply for this grant.

Oregon NASA Space Grant Consortium Graduate Scholarship was started to encourage careers in science, engineering, technology, aerospace, mathematics, and other STEM education. The goal of the OSGC Fellowship program is to advance the work of NASA Mission Directorate, support research infrastructure at the member institutions, retain U.S graduates, and promote diversity.

Who May Be Eligible?

Applicant must be eligible according to the following requirements to be considered for the fellowship:

  • The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to be eligible for this scholarship. International students cannot apply for this scholarship.
  • Candidate must have excellent academic performance.
  • The applicant must currently enroll in the OSGC affiliate member institution for full-time.
  • A student enrolled in a full-time science, or aerospace-related STEM disciplines are eligible for this scholarship.
  • Applicant must currently enroll in a faculty-mentored science/aerospace-related research project that has NASA or space relevance that can apply for this scholarship.

How to Apply

Interested and eligible applicants must submit their online application form. All the necessary details, along with the supporting documents proving the eligibility of the candidates, should be sent without fail. Applications should be submitted before the deadlines to be considered for the grant.

Supporting Documents

  • Applicant must submit their updated resume; the resume should include personal details of the applicant, a summary of your qualifications, achievements, career, relevant employment, education, significant wards, and extra-curricular activities.
  • The candidate must attach a statement of interest to the application. This statement should not be more than 500 words. This statement should include your interest in pursuing space science or aerospace and your desire to study career-related STEM fields. Explain how receiving this fellowship will benefit and contribute to your academic and career goals.
  • A fully researched proposal of no more than 2000 words should be submitted with the application. The research proposal should be written by the student with a consultation with their teachers or faculty advisor. Applicant’s research proposal should include a statement; it should consist of the key elements of the research and aim of the applicant to achieve through this research.
  • Two letters of recommendation should be attached with the application. One letter should be from a current faculty advisor or teacher with whom the applicant has completed the research proposal. The second letter can be from any faculty member who knows the academic performance of the applicant. The applicant must enter a name, contact number, and email of the recommender. The scholarship committee will contact the recommender and ask for the letters. Applicants don’t have to submit the letters directly.
  • Applicant must submit their academic histories such as previous institution, major, degree level, graduation date, and transcript.


The selected applicants will be awarded the grant of worth $10,000. The first half of the award (i.e. $5000) will be given in October 2020, and another half (i.e. $5000) will be provided in March 2022. This amount will be utilized to help the candidates with their educational expenses and other research costs.
