The Oleg Fastovsky Outstanding Citizen Scholarship is open for high school seniors, college, and university students. Since the start of his career, Attorney Oleg Fastovsky has worked tirelessly to provide service to those in his community as a criminal defence attorney. He has chosen a path of service, overseeing justice at the personal level, and he recognizes the importance that a single person can have fueled his desire to empower individuals who make themselves known through incredible acts of community service and duty. He wants to honour and assist such individuals by contributing to their educational aims. The Outstanding Citizen Scholarship and Essay Contest aim to give a $1000 scholarship to demonstrated community leaders and dedicated citizens. This is an opportunity to pursue an education that will inform and better their causes.
The Oleg Fastovsky Outstanding Citizen Scholarship provides one winner with education funds. These funds can be used to pay for their tuition and/or any related academic expenses. Who May Be Eligible
- Students currently enrolled or planning to enrol by Fall 2021 into a post-secondary program, which includes community colleges, private/public undergraduate colleges and universities, private/public graduate degree programs, law programs, and business programs
- Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above
- All applicants must possess a proven commitment to the citizenry, as demonstrated by their essay and resumé.
How to Apply
Eligible candidates need an updated resumé that includes professional, academic, and volunteer experiences with a focus on community service and citizenry, a 500 to 1,000-word essay that answers the prompt about what is one of the most important ways an individual can serve her/his community, and how has the candidate served his/her community in this way. Also, a current official academic transcript indicating that the candidate’s cumulative grade-point average is 3.0 or greater and A letter of recommendation from someone who can attest to your great work on a community service project is needed for the application.
